Powerful forces of greed and deception clash in this explosive adaptation of Ben Johnson’s classic comedy. Hog Head Theatre Company, the four-star-rated acting group, returns for its ninth consecutive year. In an outrageous ploy to scam the wealthy elite of Venice, Volpone finds himself overwhelmed not only with riches, but betrayal. Volpone, an ageing Venetian, yearns for gold, becoming obsessed by it. His two servants, Mosca and Quito realise this weakness and exploit it for everything it’s worth. To Volpone’s unknowing dismay, those who he trusts to garner him this wealth are precisely those who destroy him.
