At theSpaceUK, we are committed to making our venues and performances as accessible and welcoming as possible for all audiences, performers and visiting companies.

We work across a range of venues in Edinburgh, each with its own character and physical layout. While accessibility features vary between spaces, we aim to provide clear information in advance and practical support on the day wherever possible.

Visiting Our Venues

Accessibility arrangements differ between venues and spaces. Many of our spaces offer step-free access, while some are located within historic buildings where access may involve stairs or other physical restrictions.

If you are unsure whether a venue will meet your needs, please contact us and we will provide venue-specific advice.

Wheelchair Access and Seating

Where wheelchair spaces are available, these can be reserved in advance, either through the Fringe Access Bookings team or by contacting access.enquiries@thespaceuk.com

We recommend contacting us as early as possible to ensure we can make appropriate arrangements.

Assistance Dogs

Registered assistance dogs are welcome at all theSpaceUK venues.

If possible, please let us know in advance so we can ensure suitable seating and access arrangements for you and your dog.

Hearing and Visual Access

Access provision varies by production, as performances are presented by independent companies.

Some productions may offer:

  • Captioned performances

  • Relaxed performances

  • Audio description

  • Signed performances

For Performers and Visiting Companies

We welcome performers, creatives and technical staff with access requirements.

Our pre-production team can advise on:

  • Accessible backstage routes

  • Lift access to performance areas (where available)

  • Dressing room access

  • Technical adjustments where practical

  • Storage and load-in arrangements

We encourage companies to discuss access needs with their Pre-Production Manager as early as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be explored.
