The Dame

2017 V53

Peter Duncan

A seasoned pantomime dame sits alone in his dressing room applying make-up, preparing for the performance of a lifetime. He’s returned to the northern seaside town where he grew up for the Christmas season, and is bitterly confronted with why he left all those years before. As he excavates his childhood, he steps back into history; bringing to life the ghosts who once paraded and performed along the piers and promenades. A lost world of seaside Pierrot troupes, old time music hall and pantomime are brought to life in this one-man show where magical realism meets bleak reality.
