Written in 2000 by Yoko Tawada for Lasenkan Theater. Directed by Saburo Shimada. Sancho and Don Quixote are women but at first they take on the shape of an ass and a horse. They travel world islands in scenes: ‘Man and Beast’, ‘Knight, Squire’, ‘Boat and Island’, ‘Dragon’, ‘Student, studying, fighting against the wind of oblivion’, ‘Two Sancho Panzas’, ‘Night of dancing on the beach without crossing the sea’. Actors play in English, Spanish, German and Japanese, sing, dance, twirl, leap and warble. The company create modern theatre works effective on the border of languages and cultures.
