Hotel Remember

ReCollect Theatre Company presents ‘Hotel Remember’, a highly stylised devised piece inspired primarily by the conventions and practices of Polish theatre director Tadeusz Kantor; in particular his Theatre of Death series. The show has just completed a successful run as part of the University of Exeter Drama Department summer festival of theatre.
Check in and meet the staff and guests of this mysterious dead hotel filled with memories. The characters; a variety of people struggling to hold onto their memories as they recount their stories and are forced to re-live fragments of their damaged lives… the Child, the Bride, the Rent Boy, the Cabaret Singer… all reveal dark secrets, as they are served by the mischievous Jamicki Twins– a pair of original Kantorian characters inspired by the Commedia dell’arte. Moments of dark humour combined with tragedy and a mysterious atmosphere, with an emphasis on vintage aesthetics and a highly stylised form make this a magnetic performance, and a rich variety of characters including the dead-stillness of the ancient luggage porter and the witty temper of the dead cleaning lady give you a stylised banquet of theatricality.
