Dubrovski

2012 V36

Headlock Theatre Company

A physical adaptation of Pushkin’s unfinished novel – devastation is born from class differences, pride and revenge triumph. Trokurov and Andrei’s friendship is shattered under the brutal strain of aristocracy. After losing his home, his honour and his dignity Andrei dies in his son, Dubrovski’s arms. We watch our protagonist commit acts of murder and arson, while the promise of his forbidden love looks set to be the only hope for bringing peace to our avenger. Through energised physical sequences we witness the extensive chaos that results as rebellion takes hold in the untold tale of Dubrovski
