A Cry Too Far From Heaven

2012 V53

Invers Theatre

Tomorrow two New Zealanders will be executed. Minnie Dean, infamous ‘baby farmer’ who was hanged for infanticide, and Victor Spencer, young deserter from World War One, seek redemption and clemency. Did their societies get it wrong? Is the death penalty a one size fits all solution to crime and punishment? Should they die at the hands of the state? And if you knew the truth, would you pull the trigger on the gun or gallows? A provocative play, A Cry Too Far From Heaven, examines the human realities of individuals facing capital punishment.
