As he explores its contents, the suitcase confers its story. In turn, the boy adopts, embraces and embodies it – that melody becomes his own. And he runs and falls in the story’s groove. And he learns something important as the suitcase sings on about Joe’s Journey. A tale about transformation through love and imagination evoked by music. Every song tells a story bigger than its words alone. A unique one-man-musical from out of a suitcase (into theSpace). A piece of extended storytelling for everyone who likes an off-beat driven melody. Is it a play with a lot of music or a concert with a lot of acting? – Highly enjoyable! King Kong is dead, yet Carl Denham is still pushing his show. King Kong the Musical shows the story of King Kong through the low-budget direction of Carl Denham, who together with his lacklustre cast re-tells the story to their one final hope, a theatre producer. As the story gets told, Carl Denham becomes the subject of criticism, and he starts to rethink the events that led to King Kong’s death, and starts to realise that maybe it wasn’t beauty that killed the beast.

This award winning production, an original piece of Commedia dellArte (Italian masked comedy), combines the traditional masks, physicality and live music of the form with a modern day satire on the rise of the musical as the culturally dominant force in modern British theatre. Wealthy heiress, Isabella, has dragged her servant, Colombina, to London in order to follow her dream of becoming a West End actress. To this end, she has spent all her inheritance on the preforming rights to a play called The Prawn King basically the story of Macbeth set underwater with fishes. The play has been written and produced by the theatrical impresario, Senior Pantalone, un-ably assisted by his work-experience trainee, Zanni. Unfortunately, he is without a leading man but his son, Cavalierie, is arriving back from university that day. Will Cavalierie agree to play MacPrawn despite his theatre phobia? Can Colombinas re-writes save the show from being panned by the critics? Will Disney sue over this thinly disguised satire of The Lion King? Hopefully two out of three

As we enter the unknown future of the UK Health Service, we investigate all angles in this piece of new verbatim theatre that examines the potential devastation of what may happen if we are to lose the best service the UK has the NHS.
Ever since the decision has been made to begin privatising the NHS, we have been researching all angles of why and what is happening. The most worrying is what it holds for the future and the patients of the UK. We have and still are interviewing people, who are making these decisions, those that are currently affected and what the future may hold for the terminally ill of this country. We have been speaking to politicians, activists, junior doctors, patients and the medical professionals of the UK. The piece comes together as a whole verbatim play that investigates and examines the dying NHS.

Jyotsna Srikanth, an exciting and amazing South Indian Carnatic violinist presents Carnatic Nomad, a traditional South Indian offering with classical, folk and contemporary South Indian compositions along with specially commissioned new work. Other highlights include improvisations and interactive percussion by mridangam and khanjira: two-sided and one-sided Indian drums. The concert will be preceded by a short lec-dem about South Indian music.

After boarding a train on her own carrying her notebook and important news for her boyfriend, Bernadette begins to grasp the stark realities of adulthood over the course of one night in the city. She intimately shares with the audience her writings from these formative few days of her life, narrating a series of encounters that shape her journey in explicit, yet articulate detail.

This selection of Sir John Betjemans very English poetry is mostly set to music by the composers John Gould and Donald Swann. Their settings enlarge the poetry, all the better to let JB enchant us with recurring and multi-layered themes: of youth and age; of love of people, places and railways; of his Anglican faith and fear and doubt. He uses irony and satire, and slips from the sublime to the subversive, appealing to our senses of decency, beauty and humour – beguiling indeed.
