The Doctor and the Devils
St. Magnus Festival Players The Orcadians return with a special adaptation by Vivia Leslie of Dylan Thomas's powerful screenplay, set in Edinburgh in the 1820s, based on the infamous real-life story of bodysnatchers Burke and Hare and Scottish surgeon Dr. Knox. The gripping tale, wonderfully Dickensian characters, Dylan Thomas's lyrical language and Alasdair Nicolson's original atmospheric music combine to make a compelling piece of community theatre. Join us for an insight into Edinburgh in the nineteenth century - the daily life of the closes and the Old Town made real in our entertaining production.
