The Spaces on the Mile @ The Radisson has been a fringe venue since 2002. It really does have the best location you can imagine for a fringe venue, situated right in the middle of it all on the Royal Mile and where the fringe is at its busiest. Its location is also a few hundred yards form Waverley Station and moments from the Fringe box office. It's also usefully situated close to the street theatre stages where thousands of fringe visitors gather every day.
The Shows:
'National Theatre Award' 2009 'Fringe First Award' 2008:
'Territory' won both the (NSDF) National Student Drama emerging artiste awards for both best show and best ensemble 2009.
'Crocosmia' (midday) by 'Little Bulb' theatre not only won the prestigious Fringe First Award (see video here), but they also won the Total Theatre Award for Best Graduate Company. The show also had several offers from promoters to take the show to London, Dublin, New York and beyond! 'Vivien' (8pm) by Chimera Theatre Company also received critical acclaim with five star reviews and Mancester University enjoyed rave reviews and were shortlisted along with Crocosmia for the The Sunday Times NSDF Edinburgh Emerging Artists Competition.
We are running three spaces in the Radisson in 2010:
Space One has been re-designed! Now it is arranged as a 52-seat black box theatre with a thrust stage. Although it is best suited to traditional theatre, comedy and the like, it is a very flexible space and you can perform most styles of show there.
Space Two is an intimate 55-seat space more suited to simple theatre performances (Max 4x handers) or comedy.
Space Three is a new, large venue, seating 104 with raked seating and suitable for all forms of physical to mid/large scale theatre.
With these three superbly versatile spaces at the very heart of the Fringe, The Space UK is proud to offer this fantastic opportunity for theatre companies to come to Edinburgh and perform literally on The Royal Mile.

Prices / Inclusive deals:
Our prices are all inclusive; we have no hidden costs, no commission on box office or charges for show publication in the venue brochure. All you will pay is the agreed all inclusive fee. It's worth being aware when booking a venue of the hidden cost and percentage split scenarios, make sure you know your final financial comittment before you agree any deals. Finally, we do not hold your box office funds for interest purposes and will return them to you at the end of each daily show.
We are flexible if you want to talk about a box office split or wish to discuss prices further, so please do not hesitate to contact us with any financial queries.
What do you get in the all inclusive deal:
- Sole use of the theatre, dressing room for the period of your show
- Box Office support from 0900-2300 daily, dealing with on the door sales and advance reservations
- Fully automated ticket & reservation system
- First class technical support from our experienced production team from the time of booking to your get-out
- Full technical control - we let your own technicians operate your performances
- Technical rehearsal period one-and-a-half times your slot length
- A 60 word description of your show in 20,000 Venue brochures
- A 60 word description of your show in the Venue website
- Inclusion in the venue press releases
- Advertising on venue hoardings on the Royal Mile and outside the theatre
- Public liability insurance
Payment Methods:
A deposit of 20% of the rental will be required on confirmation of the booking and return of contract, 50% by the 1st May and the remaining 30% by 16th July.
