New for 2011, the two theatres at theSpaces on North Bridge hosted a fruitful debut year. Shows from across the globe including flamenco jazz from Spain, children’s theatre from Texas, comedy from Canada as well as theatre from Cyprus, Mexico, Armenia, Italy and Scotland! enjoyed an array of highly acclaimed reviews.
The unrivalled location where the Royal Mile meets North Bridge compliments our Royal Mile theatres across the road and make this a wonderful festival hub right in the middle of it all.
The two performance spaces are located in Victorian ballrooms giving ideal facilities for high ceilings and large stages. This flexibility means that the spaces are suitable for all genre’s of performance.
The venue also boasts a large ‘performers bar’ and ‘green room’ where audiences can mix with casts after the shows. This sits on the top floor of the venue looking out over New Town and Carlton Hill – great for a pre or post show drink.

The complex boasts 2 studio performance spaces and a fantastic 100 seat ready built cabaret bar, the theatres have been especially designed to encompass all forms of fringe festival performance genre from theatre to monologues, sketch, improv and even small scale physical pieces. The Cabaret bar is a ready built facility on the Royal Mile, it boasts a 100 seat licenced bar, a raised stage (0.5m), dressing rooms and a fully automated box office. The Cabaret bar now hasits own venue number (V54) and is called: SpaceCabaret @ 54.
Here we are looking to programme a daily mixture of cross genre performance art from poetry to readings and from theatre to improv, we'd also like to programme some evening sessions incorporating music, dance, cabaret, comedy and burlesque.
Prices / Inclusive deals:
When booking one of our venues we prefer to offer companies an all inclusive straight hire package. We believe that the straight hire option is a simple transparent model that gives the performing company clarity with regards to their financial outlay. Additionally, we do not charge companies extra to have their show listings included in the venue brochure and on the venue website. All you will pay is the agreed and all inclusive fee, there are no hidden costs.
We are flexible if you want to talk about a box office split or wish to discuss prices further, so please do not hesitate to contact us with any financial queries.
What do you get in the all inclusive deal:
- Sole use of the theatre, dressing room for the period of your show
- Box Office support from 0930-2300 daily, dealing with on the door sales and advance reservations
- Companies retain their Show (Venue) Box Office funds daily

- Technical rehearsal period one-and-a-half times your slot length
- A 60 word description of your show in 20,000 Venue brochures

- Comp tickets for cast and crew to all Space Venues shows (after paying patrons, press and promoters have been admitted)

Payment Methods:
A deposit of 20% of the rental will be required on confirmation of the booking and return of contract, 50% by the 1st May and the remaining 30% by 16th July.

If possible please have in mind your preferred time slots and your preferred week(s) if you are not intending to perform for the full 22 day run.
