Fringe Testimonials

Here are some comments from theatre companies that have used The Space UK fringe venues in the past.

Margaret Griffiths

Troika Productions

Whilst it is of course up to the visiting company to ensure that their production is prepared properly, once you are in the venue, you do rely on the venue organisers to know their stuff. In this respect, you'd be hard put to find a more efficient, professional team than Charles, Gareth and Giles. Their wealth of experience at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe makes for getting the maximum use out of the time slot you have at the venue.

I am happy to say that having had an excellently reviewed sell out production of Death of a Salesman, we had no hesitation in selecting Venue 45 again in 2005 when we returned to Edinburgh with our production of Piaf, which also received excellent reviews and was a near sell out.

Venue 45 is for us a very special venue with a fantastically intimate atmosphere. This, combined with the expert technical support provided, has ensured that the performance achieves its maximum impact in communication with the audience.

In addition to the technical side, Charles and his team have provided support in many other areas including marketing and press coverage and their accounting for box office receipts has always been carried out promptly and efficiently. We now regard them as friends who we look forward to seeing very much on our return to The Fringe next year.

Bill Davis

Director, Blunderbus Theatre Company Ltd

Each year, our visit to the Edinburgh Festival is an expensive affair, bringing with it, a host of stresses and strains, and a worrying degree of financial uncertainty. We've performed at the festival since 1996, and over the years, we've learnt the importance of good organisation, effective publicity, and being professional.

There are numerous theatre spaces available; some are fabulous, delivering exactly what they promise, but many are not, instead, delivering little more than a promise. Fortunately for Blunderbus, we have been performing at Venue 45 team for 8 years, and we have always been delighted by the professionalism of the entire team.

From technical or box office staff, to venue manager, everybody at Venue 45 seems to understand, and tries their very best to support the needs of visiting companies. More importantly, we return to the same venue each year, because we trust the Venue 45 team to deliver a very high level of service time and again.

Simon Rae

Top Edge Theatre Company

Venue 45 has been the Edinburgh home for Top Edge Productions since 2004 and we really have been made to feel at home. In stark contrast to some other Edinburgh venues, the V45 team really care about the companies who use their space, giving superb technical support and unfailing assistance in a crisis.

The space itself is quite large for the fringe, and exceptionally versatile. It has a great atmosphere. Technical standards are high, and - which is important if you have a lot of props - there's bags of storage space. It is also brilliantly located just off the Royal Mile and a stone's throw from the station.

Venue 45 is well established (and well known - reviewers don't get lost getting there) and the management are showing their commitment to the Fringe project by offering two further venues at the same end of town.

Finally, Venue 45 is sensible about money. They charge very reasonably, and they recognise that your money belongs to you: you get the box office receipts straight after the show, not several weeks later when you've actually gone bankrupt. We like it so much, we're bringing two shows up this year. Why would anyone want to go anywhere else?
